Grandfather Huachuma (San Pedro) is a Supreme Teacher of great compassion and understanding as well a wonderful Healer. He shows us how to live in balance and harmony; how to love, respect, and honor all living beings. He helps us to perceive and let shine the light of the Divinity within us. Each person's experience will be unique, as we are all individual beings.
San Pedro is a cactus native to the Andes Mountains of Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador. It has been used for more than 3,000 years in traditional Andean medicine. Today it is best known in the Andes by its post-colonial name "San Pedro," a reference to the Christian saint who holds the keys to the Gates of Heaven.
Huachuma ceremonies (San Pedro) are held for healing, magical and divining purposes. These ceremonies may cure illness of a spiritual, emotional, mental, or physical nature. They may illuminate the future through prophetic and divinatory qualities of the plant, assist one to overcome obstacles, give you courage for the lessons you need to overcome, learn the divine purpose of all the events in your lives (present-past-future), attune with the cosmic love and light, connect with mother Earth and all our brothers and sisters, find enthusiasm for life and to experience the world as divine.
Ayahuasca and Huachuma are very complementary and the combination can result in more complete healing that may not have occurred with Ayahuasca alone. In many cases Huachuma has cleared blockages that subsequently opened up in Ayahuasca ceremonies. The San Pedro cactus brings in the masculine energy of the Heavens, contrasting it to Ayahuasca which brings in the feminine energy of Mother Earth.
"Drinking San Pedro is a personal journey of discovery, of the self and the universe.”
